The Travel Lead Editor role at Euronews Travel is a senior editorial position focused on shaping and leading a global travel content initiative. The position plays a central role in defining editorial strategy, driving audience growth, and ensuring high-quality travel journalism across Euronews’ digital platforms.

Launched in 2021, the Euronews Doha bureau serves as a multicultural regional hub producing original content from the Middle East and Asia. Euronews Travel is a new global initiative dedicated to inspiring audiences through responsible, immersive, and informative travel journalism, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and cultural exploration.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute the editorial vision for Euronews Travel in line with company objectives
- Plan and oversee a comprehensive content calendar based on audience interests, seasonal trends, SEO insights, and industry developments
- Commission, edit, and publish high-quality digital travel content across platforms
- Write original articles, destination features, and opinion pieces when required
- Manage in-house editors and freelance contributors, ensuring consistent tone, quality, and editorial standards
- Oversee freelance commissioning budgets and approve invoices
- Collaborate with analytics, design, video, social, commercial, and marketing teams to maximise reach and engagement
- Represent Euronews Travel at industry events, press trips, and media briefings
Requirements
- Degree in Journalism or a related field such as International Relations or Political Science
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in digital journalism or editorial leadership
- Previous experience in travel or lifestyle media preferred
- Proven ability to manage writers, freelancers, and cross-functional editorial teams
- Strong understanding of digital publishing environments and workflows
Skills
- Excellent command of English (C2 level), written and spoken
- Additional language skills are a strong advantage
- Strong editorial judgment and attention to detail
- Advanced writing, editing, and commissioning abilities
- Solid knowledge of SEO, analytics tools, and digital publishing platforms
- Strong organisational, project management, and communication skills
- Ability to adapt and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
