Responsibilities

As a Water Treatment Plant Operator, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Performing routine operations and maintenance of water treatment plants
  • Operating and monitoring systems such as UV units, chlorine dosing, ozone dosing, and ultrafiltration membranes
  • Managing equipment including cartridge filtration systems, pumps, bore pumps, and switchboards
  • Using SCADA technology to monitor plant performance and water quality
  • Assisting Waitaki District Council staff with water quality and reticulation-related tasks
  • Ensuring all activities comply with safety standards and New Zealand Drinking Water regulations
